Participatory Budgeting Charter

The Scottish Community Development Centre (SCDC) have been commissioned by The Scottish Government to develop a Participatory Budgeting (PB) Charter for Scotland. It's an exciting development that will underpin PB in Scotland with a set of principles and guidelines to help communities make their PB processes as accessible and effective as possible.

On Wednesday 14th March 2018 SCDC came to meet with some panel members and grantees of the Gorbals Ideas Fund to have a close look at the content of the draft Charter. The workshop was really engaging, with lots of really great input from everyone who attended. We focussed on the language, the terminology and the overall content from the perspective of the community.

It became apparent that the main concern for participants was making sure a Charter has the community at it's heart, that it puts the empahsis on the community first and foremost and sets people up to succeed. We're looking forward to seeing how our comments and input help shape this document and we're excited to have been part of such an important piece of work that could help shape PB in the years to come! Look out for more updates.
