Gorbals Grows is a community growing project that aims to transform unused and vacant spaces across our area.

What began as an idea from local residents Lisa Gillen and Jackie Stockdale has now truly taken root, thanks to £10,000 in funding from the Gorbals Ideas Fund, awarded by the community in 2022.

The project is creating outdoor spaces for relaxation, planting, and growing herbs, food, and flowers. What started as a pilot project over at Riverside is now a thriving growing space.

A group of local residents aim to plant and grow produce - what an amazing idea that has not only taken root but continues to grow every day.

​

The group now meets every Monday evening and continues to grow, with two new community growing spaces currently being developed in the Gorbals.

If you can spare some time to help plant seeds, water and maintain plants, and support the protection of local growing spaces, we'd love to hear from you. Volunteers can get involved at our Riverside Site, McNeil Gardens, and Benny Lynch Court.

This initiative is open to everyone, whether you're an experienced gardener or simply interested in learning more about gardening and green spaces.

Join us at our Riverside Site on Commercial Road, where we meet every Monday at 5.30pm. Whether you can give an hour each week, once a month, or just occasionally, any support is greatly appreciated.
