Gorbals Grows and Sanctuary spaces
Gorbals Grows is a community growing project that aims to transform unused and vacant spaces across our area.
What began as an idea from local residents Lisa Gillen and Jackie Stockdale has now truly taken root, thanks to £10,000 in funding from the Gorbals Ideas Fund, awarded by the community in 2022.

The project is creating outdoor spaces for relaxation, planting, and growing herbs, food, and flowers. What started as a pilot project over at Riverside is now a thriving growing space.
A group of local residents meets every Monday and has been busy planting and growing produce - what an amazing idea that has not only taken root but continues to grow every day.

The group now meets every Monday and is expanding further, with two new growing spaces currently being developed in the Gorbals.
If you feel your area could benefit from a growing space, or perhaps you would like to help create a sanctuary space, we would love to hear from you. This initiative is open to everyone - whether you're an experienced gardener or someone keen to learn more about green spaces.
